You may recall that back in July, Michael Kinsella published a text book titled: Legend-Tripping Online: Supernatural Folklore and the Search for Ong’s Hat (great review here) and I in turn promised to write a companion paper to clarify a few of the conclusions in his tome that I felt needed expansion or slight course correction.

All this is in preparation for a new Ong’s Hat spin-off novel (a sort of meta-sequel) that is in the works for release early next year.

The Surprising Online Life of Legends
In Announcements, books, Links, Magazine-Ezine, Ong's Hat on August 3, 2011 at 9:51 amA very interesting article/review of Legend-Tripping Online: Supernatural Folklore and the Search for Ong’s Hat.
From The Chronicle of Higher Education: Now, from the you-can-learn-something-new-every-day files, comes Michael Kinsella’s Legend-Tripping Online: Supernatural Folklore and the Search for Ong’s Hat.
Read it here: http://chronicle.com/blogs/pageview/the-surprising-online-life-of-legends/29221
From the article:
The response of Joseph Matheny to Legend-Tripping Online suggests the success of Kinsella’s read on the Incunabula Papers. On his Web site, Matheny wrote that Kinsella “did an excellent job and only missed the mark with two or three of his conclusions,” which Matheny said he would clear up by writing a complementary account.
Robert Anton Wilson: The Lost Studio Session and other titles

Robert Anton Wilson: The Lost Studio Session
By Robert Anton Wilson
and Joseph Matheny
First recorded in Chicago in 1994, this previously unreleased audio session with the renowned Robert Anton Wilson has been stored away for fifteen years…and almost lost entirely. If Bob knew how many synchronicities surround the rediscovery and release of this “lost” studio session, he would be chuckling in that half jolly, half mischievous way of his. If you believe in any kind of afterlife, maybe you can imagine him laughing right now. I like that image: Bob the laughing Buddha, still having one over on us from the great beyond. -Joseph Matheny (from the liner notes)

t. Winter Damon:RIP
In Announcements, books, GSpot, Links, Podcast on August 18, 2009 at 9:48 pm
Wow. Wrote to t. Winter Damon to see if he was close to publishing the new work he had told me about…how long ago? Wow, like a year. It’s been a busy year for sure, but I really need to slow down and smell the roses. His work email bounced, so I figured he’d been laid off, seems to be happening a lot…so I wrote his publisher and asked him to have Tim call me. I was surprised to receive an email back that he had died. This is happening far too much lately. Anyway, here’s an old GPod radio we did several years ago. I’ll miss ya man, we had some great conversations. Show : Part 1 | Part 2 (may 15 2005)
t. Winter-Damon: Author of Duet for the Devil and The Forbidden Gospels of Man Cruel talks about the Zodiac Killer and Hannibal Lecter as a food critic.
